Global Betting Exchange set to become a reality?
It is perhaps something of a misnomer to speak of "global betting exchanges" in so far as Betfair is the only betting exchange to have anything approaching global reach.
Nonetheless, things may be about to change, with the news that Global Betting Exchange, the company behind the BETDAQ betting exchange; is to launch a new exchange "backed by significant players in the global sports trading market".
It is claimed that the new venture will offer a breath of markets and a level of liqudity unsurpassed in the betting exchange sphere. It will target the retail exchange bettor. It will not be purple in colour.
Tradefair™ is Betfair's new home for the financial bettor and trader. Customers will be able to login with their Betfair account to Tradefair Binaries, the company's "unique financial binary exchange" that lets them play the role of the the market maker. Or, they can trade the markets with Tradefair Spreads, a new spread product designed to cut the cost and complexity of financial trading.
The arrival of these new products/exchanges, may serve to put further pressure on the second line betting exchanges; companies such as Betsson,Betonbet, Mybet and WBX, many of whom who now offer their clients a traditional sportsbook option, alongside their betting exchanges, suggesting that the running costs of their exchanges cannot be paid for out of transaction costs alone.
Casualties in the betting exchange sector to date have included; Abex88; Backandlay; Betbug; Betx, matchedbets; iwageru; ggbet exchange; bluevex; ubetanything; spomaxx; swapbets; Betbutler; Betxc; Fairoptions; Levelbet; Playp2p; mybetyourbet; bet-ex; bettingsociety, SportingOptions; Betmart; Mansion betting exchange and Parbet betting exchange.
